I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. John 15:5 KJV
As for me and my house, we shall serve the Lord
In my pursuit to improve myself and my relationship with my husband I have found the above books to be greatly helpful. I have read all six of them cover to cover and I consider them all full of valuable information. I *HIGHLY* recommend the first two books to any couple that is engaged or newly married!! One of the keys to a successful marriage is being able to understand your spouse and the first four books listed have been a great help to me in relating to my husband.
The last two books, those by Joyce Meyer, have helped me to look inside myself and find the areas where I need to improve my attitude toward my husband, my kids, and the rest of the world. Even if your not a Joyce Meyer fan there is alot of information in these two books that will make you think.
Back to the Bible and Bible.com are pretty self explanitory. They have alot of helpful Bible tools including a Bible search and articles on various Bible topics.
Dave Ramsey is a well known debt counselor. I have heard strong arguments for and against following is advice. I won't use this space to "defend" him, all I will say is...we are well on our way to being debt free and his advice has been a part of that. Take that for what you will..=)
Wind Beneath My Wings is a group on LilaGuide.com that I began as a resource to parents. The main purpose is to give comfort and encouragement to parents that have kids with ongoing health issues. I would also like to invite any other parents that might like to be a part of this to give a listening ear or any other compassionate person that could give encouragement. If your interested in joining just follow the link above. We'd be glad to have you. Keep in mind this is a brand new group so we don't have alot of members yet. We do however have a nurse that will share any medical information you may want and someone who has experienced the tragedy of a miscarriage after years of trying to concieve with no luck. Both of these individuals, along with me ( I have my own story posted about dealing with Severe Eczema on an infant), would love to have you!
The first three sites listed offer FREE worksheets that you can print and use at home. Some of them have membership options that enable you to have access to even more materials to aid in homeschooling or simply supplamenting your childs regular school work.
Starfall caters specifically to phonics and reading skills for ages pre-K to grade 3. A Plus Math has alot of great math resources for homeschooling or helping a child that is struggling in this area in school. There is material to help all the way to the high school level.
Abeka is the curriculum we have chosen to use for our children. It is God centered and is also widely used in Christian schools as well as homeschooling. Saxon focuses mainly on Math and Phonics curriculum. We use them for Math. There teach and review approach is very helpful for our oldest daughter, however if your child does well at grasping an idea the first time around you may not want to use Saxon because your child will get bored of reviewing things they already know well.
CurrClick is a website that I just learned about. Its full of downloads for lapbooks and such. All of the books offered are ebooks, nothing to ship through the mail and wait for! Each week they have one free download.
HomeSchool Tracker is what I use to keep track of grades, tests, assignments and all that other "teacher" stuff. I heard about it through more homeschooling yahoo groups last year. It has a free basic version, and an upgraded deluxe version (you pay for this one). The free version works great for what I need it for! The deluxe has little extras like doing trascripts for you, for college purposes if you have high school aged kids
Homeschool Freebie of the Day is just what it sounds like! Its a site that offers a different free ebook everyday (except Fridays freebie is available all weekend). I have gotten many great books from this site already.
WebMD, eMedicine, and Whole Health MD are very helpful sites to look up health, drug, and food information.
Snuggle Wraps were recommended from a friend to aid in treating our sons eczema. After months of treatment with little results we turned to Snuggle Wraps to help prevent our son from being able to scratch at his face, which is the area most affected by his condition. These wraps are arm restraints that prevent a child from being able to bend their arm. It has helped tremendously in clearing him up(used in conjunction with his prescriptions) and keeping him from hurting himself.
MYASTHENIA GRAVIS: A friend of my sister has this disease. I had never heard of it until she said he had it. In an effort to raise awareness I have added a link to a site with information about it for those that would like to learn more. And you never know when one of YOUR friends or family members may be diagnosed with it!
